Clergymen Deny Mulhall Attacking Hatters Strike
Denials from Rev Walter Shanley and Rev Dr H C Meserve challenge Colonel Mulhall's claim that money influenced the 1909 Danbury hatters strike settlement. Meserve asserts he received only a Panama hat, not pay, and that no European trip was offered. Mulhall cites a $25,000 manufacturers budget and three arbitrators, but Meserve and Shanley say only two arbitrators existed and no agreement was reached.
