Plan for Dissolution of Pacific Merger Reached in Washington
Washington June 23 officials said Attorney General McReynolds and Union Pacific representatives reached a plan to dissolve the Hariman merger. The agreement, aligned with President Wilson, will be submitted Monday to the U.S. Court of the Eighth Circuit in St Paul for approval with a limited objection period. The plan provides for exchanging 33 million dollars of Southern Pacific stock for Pennsylvania’s Baltimore and Ohio stake and selling the remaining 33 million through a trust to avoid continued Southern Pacific control. No final decree until potential objections are foreseen. if required, McReynolds may pursue a civil anti trust suit to split Southern and Central Pacifics.
