Greenwich June 30 Judge William L Tierney forced to take over the borough court after Constable George Jones removed former Judge Charles D Barnes from the room. Walter Marsh aided by Jim Walsh opened the safes to seize court books amid protests. A crowd gathered as Tierney ordered Barnes removed and sought the court seal from clerk Stephen Radford. The scene signaled a political shift as Governor Baldwin’s reform drive loomed.
Major Thomas Boudren was honored Saturday at Oak Grove Milford with a complimentary dinner by White Mfg Co employees. The group included long‑tenured workers up to 48 years of service and toastmaster George Cornwall. Boudren urged fair employer voice and valued worker treatment.

Patrick Talon and James O Keefe, poolroom habitues, charged with highway robbery after they allegedly assaulted Christopher Shallett at Main and Railroad Avenue. Police chased and captured them. Shallett identified them and received hospital treatment. They remain in custody with $1,000 bonds set for Superior Court as prosecutors claim a clear case.
Bethel files suit against Minnie Wildman Annie Lynn and R Clifford and William Grumman to compel relatives to fund Charles Grumman’s care at the state hospital. Probate court ordered his removal on October 8 1912 for mental disability. Town has paid 3104 and Charles has life use of 892 in banks. Case returnable to September term.

Four Bridgeport team members Frank Snyder James Flanagan George Vandegrift and Harvey Russell appeared in City court with warrants issued by Prosecuting Attorney DeLaney. Prosecutor sought a one day continuance due to ill captain Edward McGamwell and umpire McPartlin. Bonds set at 25 dollars each. Charges include engaging unlawfully in secular business on Sunday with alleged games at Newfield Park June 8 and 22. Principal witness Maurice Berwald of New Haven to testify. corroborating witnesses expected. Continuance granted for trial on schedule. Pastors Association law and order committee declined to comment.
A special committee of aldermen led by Frederick Cederholm and including Isaac Morey William R. Kearns John B. Callahan and Wenzel G. Steigler toured the Bates Cold Storage plant in New Haven. They examined the facility from cellar to roof and gathered cost data on machinery coal ammonia systems and yearly consumption. The 7 story plant uses multiple temperature zones and the fur storage room at the top stays cool via an electric fan.
St Paul June 30 The plan to dissolve the Union Pacific Southern Pacific merger approved by Attorney General McReynolds with President Wilsons backing was placed under advisement by judges Sanborn Hook and Smith in a US district court for Utah The plan calls for selling Southern Pacific shares held by Union Pacific totaling 88000000 with restrictions preventing former holders from buying The details were sought to be made public by McReynolds but UP counsel objected
In Fairfield June 30 Justice Bacon Wakeman freed Isabelle H. Woodford widow of the former U S minister to Spain from manslaughter and reckless driving charges after a morning hearing. An auto she drove struck William Stenhauser 60 at Library corner June 3. Coroner and grand jury involvement noted before dismissal. Grace Harris married Charles Smith at St Augustine's church at 8 this morning officiated by Father Kennedy.
Governor Baldwin announced appointments to two new commissions to serve terms ranging from two to six years. The park commission includes General Edward Bradley and Lucius Robinson among others, while the fish and game commission replaces the old trio with members from several counties, including Rear Admiral Casper Goodrich and Charles H.
