If Harold Lawton of Plainfield, recently elected president, raises enough to save the institution the receiver may step aside. Lawton has raised about 80000 dollars. Appraisers will be appointed later. The trust company closed April 16 after the First National Bank faced financial trouble. Lawton was elected president after Franklin D Jerome resigned.
