Union Masons Get Saturday Half Holiday
The union masons, stonemasons and bricklayers have been granted a Saturday half holiday with no large wage cuts, while several hundred non union workers employed by Interstate Association firms do not receive this perk. At Bricklayers & Plasterers day meet a mortuary fund adopted at the Boston convention will take effect, providing $200 to the widow or relatives of a deceased member. Plans For A New Church Building Feature Marble and Iron
A vestibule 10 by 36 feet leads from the porch to an auditorium through three wide doorways with additional doors to towers and basement. The larger tower holds a baptistry while the smaller contains an iron staircase to the choirloft. The interior boasts grained plaster ceilings and molded oak trim, with white Italian marble altars and Sienna accents. A rose window and stained glass depict life of Our Lord and St Patrick. Vermont gray marble exterior contrasts with bluish gray Vermont marble trim. Fire safety, asbestos ceilings, iron stairs, and reinforced foundations ensure permanence.
