The Labor Octopus A Methodist clergyman plans a cooperative future
Retired clergyman Dr. R. B. Craft writes The Labor Octopus From 1910 to 1930 arguing for a cooperative social order. He envisions 400 families pooling capital to farm land near water power, using modern machinery to produce real wealth and eliminate poverty, hunger, and vice.
Dr Craft outlines self sustaining community plan with four hundred workers
Dr. Craft proposes investing 15 000 in machines to enable a self sufficient community of 400 workers. Labor equal to four men for a year would feed 400 families, freeing others to build homes and luxuries. He aims to pioneer a prosperous example to inspire national and worldwide adoption, rooted in Jesus inspired brotherhood. His book is being revised for publication.
