A sprawling transcription lists subscriptions rates, advertising terms, and legal notices. It also surveys yellow fever reports, banking debates, political endorsements, and editorials on Texas counties and national finance, naming towns, figures, banks, and politicians.
Reports from Memphis New Orleans Vicksburg Grenada and other towns say fever is rising rather than easing. New Iberia and areas on the Teche report cases while Morgan City remains the only western site with a single case.
The Belton Telegraph company completed its line to Round Rock on the 22d inst. The first message praised building to Galveston and urged rapid rail connection between the two cities, with the Galveston, City and Southern Freight Railway as the sought link.
Hox R Q Mills addressed a large audience in Bryan for two hours arguing that absolute money must be dug from the ground and critiquing the Republican push for resumption. He aligned with the Austin platform while noting the Houston greenbackers did not ratify and speakers were late.

Cameron Missouri residents and the Clinton county authorities appealed to Governor Phelps for a state reward to catch a fugitive murderer. The governor urged duty by all citizens and officials, warning rewards should be rare and crime pursuit a shared responsibility.
New Orleans reports 193 new cases and 42 deaths. Weekly totals reach 891 cases and 311 deaths, with 103 new cases from noon to 6 pm. Grenada notes no abatement while Vicksburg reports ongoing fever spread and prostrated doctors. Memphis records 105 new cases and 15 deaths in 24 hours. Jackson, Miss. shows zero cases. Holly Springs reports six cases among refugees.
The rule dated June 6 1878 declares that from September 1 1878 cotton bagged with flax tow containing shives or straw pieces or flax not properly rotted is unmerchantable and not good delivery in the market, warning planters and traders.
