Mothers Day this year falls on Sunday May 18 the movement founded by Miss Anna Jarvis of Philadelphia is urged for universal observance. The white carnation is the emblem though carnations are scarce and white roses are used. Oil Building at State Farm Burns to Total Loss

Former Rankin County Woman Cordelia Chapman Dies at 70
Mrs Cordelia Perry Chapman died suddenly Friday at her son Dr J A Chapmans home in Columbia at age 70. Born near the city December 25 1852 she was the daughter of Sam W Perry and wife of the late Rev W P Chapman a Baptist minister. Survived by eight sons and one daughter funeral held in Newton Cemetery beside her husband Knights of Pythias cemetery interment Saturday morning.
