Large Saw Mill Planned at Rankin County
Ellisville timber men F Herrington and C V Smith visited Rankin County to announce plans for a large, modern saw mill to boost the local lumber industry and bring new families to the area. The project promises up-to-date machinery and growth for the community. A late April wedding united Olier Kennedy of Magee and Julia Johnson of Shiloh at Johns Parsonage with Rev. Paul H. Grice officiating. The couple will reside in Magee.

Former Brandon resident hurt in Hammond train wreck
L. E B. Rogers, fireman on the Illinois Central Railroad and son of a prominent Brandon and Rankin County family, was injured in a collision near Hammond, Louisiana, last Wednesday when two freight trains collided. Nine cars burned, two loaded with alcohol, one leg amputated at Baton Rouge hospital, condition listed as satisfactory.
