The Brady telephone directory edition is nearly ready for press. D G Reese says the last day for listings in the 1970 directory is October 2. Those needing new listings changes or updates should contact the telephone company business office promptly. Mailing begins November 17 with a December 1970 date.
Everitt's Grocery at 1420 S Bridge Street has re opened after a recent fire. The store has been remodeled with a complete stock of new groceries meats frozen foods fruits and vegetables. Owner Filmore Everitt says they are open for business and welcome old and new customers.
West Texas Boys' Ranch hosts its second annual Team Roping and Calf Roping at the Boys Ranch Arena. Ropers compete for two go rounds and an average starting at 3 p.m. A barbecue supper at 6:30 p.m. costs one dollar, with The Bluegrass Kinfolk band from Tuscola entertaining. Ezra Trotter of Barnhart will announce roping to raise funds for the Livestock Roundup Fund.
Brady Bulldogs shuffle positions after injuries and host Fredericksburg Batlin' Billies at 8 p.m. in Bulldog Stadium. Split end Willie Jones and wingback Charles Partin are questionable, and their absence could impact the game plan.
Brady High School prepares for a tough non district game with Fredericksburg. Coach Del Wilson plans lineup shifts at end and tight end to counter Fredericksburg’s dual threat. Fredericksburg on defense features Klaerner and Alberthal stopping most plays, while offense hinges on quarterback Brown and running backs Neffendorf and Rech.
