Roy Barton 63 Cattle Buyer Dies in Temple Hospital
Roy Barton a 63 year old cattle buyer, rancher and storyteller died Tuesday evening in Temple Veterans Hospital after seven weeks of treatment. Funeral services were held Thursday at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Rev Mickey Warlick officiating and burial in Rest Haven Cemetery. Born February 26 1896 in Voca he was a former auto mechanic before entering the cattle and sheep business and worked for the Texas Livestock Marketing Association for nearly four decades. Survivors include a daughter Mrs D C Williams of Fort Worth a son Roy L Barton of San Angelo a sister Mrs John Rodgers of Melvin four half sisters and three standchildren.

At the Prady High School auditorium the McCulloch County Farm Bureau elected directors for the coming year and adopted four resolutions. One resolution supports extension of the National Wool Act and endorses electric cooperative operation and financing practices. The new board includes Raymond Murray, Bobbyve Hurd, Tom Irvin, Jowell Owen, Edward Lohn, and W. Jd. Meredith. Meredith and Lohn were re-elected. The board will meet October 27 to name officers and convention delegates.
