The Brady Bulldogs open their 8-AA schedule at Mason in a tough test. Coach Owens praises Mason’s strong team and says they will fight hard. Brady has a 3-3 record, with wins over Lake View and Coleman and losses to Pallinger, Lampasas, and Belton.

Students Chosen For Lead Roles In Senior Class Play

Brady High School seniors select 17 boys and 15 girls for lead roles in The Mouse That Roared. Cast includes Ann Stromauist Vernon Carroll Victor Schill Jerry Atherton Danny Schill Linda Harvey and Johnnie Sue Jordan. Director Bill Spurgin and sponsors chose cast with Miss Lucille Welch Mrs F J Powell and Mrs Paul Huntington. Rehearsals start Monday with more casting to follow before the Nov 13 performance.

Donations Drive Urges Funds For McCulloch Campaign

Buster Quain calls for support for the Democratic ticket in McCulloch County. He asks supporters to visit the local headquarters in the old Waffle Shop building, share coffee and a doughnut, and leave any donation amount to aid the campaign.

McCulloch County Farm Bureau Plans Meeting and Film Presentation

The McCulloch County Farm Bureau will hold its annual membership meeting Tuesday night Oct 20 at Brady High School Auditorium. Guest speaker Bill McReynolds WOAI farm editor will show a color film Seven Countries of Northern Europe. Six directors will be elected and resolutions voted on with drawings for five dollar prizes for members only.

McCulloch County to Start 1964 Agriculture Census in November

McCulloch County will begin the 1964 Agriculture Census in November with Tom Bradter Jr. of Brady as manager for McCulloch Mason and Liano counties. Four enumerators will be hired for five to six weeks at 81.75 per hour to collect farm inventories, crops, livestock, equipment, and resident demographics to aid farm businesses and government planning.

Activity grows around Brady Lake development plans advance

The city lays six inches of caliche gravel on Brady Lake dam to harden surfaces for bad weather. Abner Trige surveys an 88 lot east of Bear Creek on a 35 acre tract while final disposition of the lots awaits plans. Ditches for a raw water pipe to Simpson Lake Club property are started and a ramp under the dam is rebuilt to ease boat access and reduce mud.

Roy Webb of Pampa Dies After Heart Attack

Roy Webb of Pampa died at 7 p.m. Wednesday after a heart attack. Funeral rites for Webb, husband of Martha Ellen Baker, were planned in Pampa with Mrs. Chas. Baker and Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Newlin in attendance. Webb, a World War II pilot who trained partly at Curtis Field, had suffered prior attacks.

Five 4-H Members Take Animals to State Fair

Five McCulloch County 4-H members with County Agent Lowell Kuykendall take show animals to the Junior Livestock Show at the State Fair of Texas. Delegates depart Monday morning and return Saturday. Pear Valley Tops UF Drive Progress in McCulloch County

Harold Deaton reports Pear Valley is the first community to finish its United Fund drive and turn in a report. Mrs. Jerrell Hemphill chairs the Pear Valley drive while Denton notes slow progress countywide. The fund is only one third to one half complete and must finish in the coming days to aid those depending on the campaign.

Drive Begins On Predatory Animals in McCulloch County

A McCulloch County livestock group launches a six month predator drive led by H F E Bridgewater of San Angelo with Ed Herron and local landowners funding the program. Hunters Perry Jason Perry Cox Ray Welch and Ben Walker target bobcats red foxes and coyotes using traps snares poison baits and cyanide guns while landowners contribute 2 cents per acre or at least 5 dollars.

Brady Woman Named Honorary Member of Jr Historians

Mrs. Marion N. Williamson was made an honorary member of the Brady High School Junior Historians Club at a recent meeting. Don Cavness, the club president, presented a yearbook dedication to her. The group, affiliated since 1942 as Chapter 48, Texas State Historical Association, has 55 members with sponsors Mrs. M. F. Barber Mrs. Oletha Partin and Willie Ray Fields.

Brady Pastor Resigns to Lead Texas Lake Church

The Rev Allen Brown, pastor of Brady Presbyterian Church, announced to his congregation that he has accepted a call to become pastor of First Union Church at Buchanan Dam Texas. He arrived in Brady in June 1986 from Jacksboro and has been active in Rotary Ministerial Association and local cultural groups. Subject to approval, he will begin November 1.

Brady Bulldog Band to Play Pancake Supper

The Brady Bulldog Band will perform from 5 30 to about 6 30 p m on the Piggly Wiggly lot Monday Oct 19 during a pancake supper sponsored by the Brady Band B club and provided by Pretty Wisghy store. Tickets available from band students or at the event. In bad weather the meal moves to the National Guard Armory. All you can eat includes pancakes sausage and drink.
