Five McCulloch men return from a three day orientation with the Strategic Air Command Convair and Fort Worth tours. The group toured SAC headquarters Carswell and Offutt Air Force Base with visitors from several Texas towns. A mild misadventure involved a hat mix up en route home.

Latin Women Urged to Sign In Labor Survey

Latin-American women are urged to register in a labor survey by the Chamber of Commerce. CC Manager Roger Wheeler says Brady has many potential workers among Latin-Americans, but few have signed up. 128 women have registered. 75 are 18 to 40 and 53 are over 40. The group seeks about 400 participants, prioritizing the 18 to 40 group for hands-on skill training. The survey supports prospects for the industrial committee's negotiations and future garment factory relations.

Bucks of Month Chest Drive Begins In Brady County

The Brady and McCulloch County Community Chest drive launches next Monday with co chairs Mrs. Fred Hall and Mrs. Joe McDonough guiding the campaign. Employees are asked to pledge one hour of wages monthly to reach a goal of 13 877 dollars. Donations may be lump sum or installments. Final drive Sunday November 1. Operation Helping Hand will cover missed residential areas, led by co chairs Mrs. Jean Williams and Mrs. B A Hallam Jr.

Trick or Treat Sunday Aids Food Drive Abroad

Brady youngsters will canvass Sunday afternoon to send food to starving people overseas. Sponsored by the Methodist Youth Fellowship of the First Methodist Church, the drive supports CROP the Christian Rural Overseas Program. CROP began in 1947 to aid nations in need. Any contribution will be gratefully received, including small coins.

Farm Bureau Pushes Toll Free Links Between Brady and Rural Texas

The McCulloch County Farm Bureau pledged Tuesday to campaign for toll free telephone service connecting Brady with six rural exchanges including Doole Melvin Lohn Rochelle Mercury and Voca. Officers were elected for a new six member board and 469 members are now active in McCulloch County.

Brady Police Chief Lenhart resigns after 34 years service

Police Chief Carl W. Lenhart submitted his resignation to the City Council, effective Nov. 1, after 34 years in policing. He plans to return to San Antonio with indefinite future plans and noted his enjoyment of Brady and its people. No successor named. Lenhart began in Brady in 1958 succeeding Ted Lacey.

Waters Trial Set for December in Abilene Case

S B Waters of Abilene faces 12 indictments from the McCulloch County grand jury charged Sept 17 for selling unregistered securities and acting as an unregistered dealer in a Maran Copau Mining Co affair. Bond set at 9000 dollars. Trial scheduled for Monday December 7.

C C Committee Seeks Park Picnic Tables for Richards Park

The Parks and Recreation Committee of the Chamber of Commerce urges civic groups to fund new picnic tables at Richards Park to support summer family reunions. A 20 foot table costs about $100, with $5 per foot, and donors’ names will be inscribed in concrete. Contact Hardin Jones or Brady Lions Club for involvement, as the club recently voted $100 for a 20 foot table.
