Reynolds and Yarbrough Attend Texas Teachers Convention

Brady school superintendent C A Reynolds and McCulloch County Association president John Yarbrough left Thursday for the Texas State Teachers Association annual convention in Corpus Christi. They will serve as voting delegates as the House of Delegates meets Saturday with Harriet Griffin to be installed as president. Keynote speaker is CBS TV analyst Harry Reasoner as over 8000 educators are expected.

McCulloch County Farm Bureau Votes at Tuesday Meeting

The McCulloch County Farm Bureau will hold its annual membership meeting Tuesday at 7:30 pm in Brady High School auditorium. Six directors face re election Warren Jones Howard Bloomer Lindsay Passmore Paul Hanson H W Kruckemeier and David Dahlberg. There will be 15 drawings for 5 each plus a Safemark tire prize and entertainment by Brady High School Chorus The Uke N Four and Rochelle John School speech class. Registration begins at 7 pm with a call for members to participate and have a voice in the organization.

Morgan Haynes Ex Postmaster Dies at 72

Morgan Haynes 72 retired Melvin businessman and post master died Wednesday afternoon at 6 40 from a heart attack at his home. Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p m at Wilkerson Funeral Chapel with burial in Rest Haven Cemetery. He was born March 1 1892 in Richland Springs and married Alvida Stromquist December 25 1921 in Brady. He served in WWI, was Magnolia agent and drug store operator, and Masonic Lodge member. He is survived by his wife three sisters three brothers and numerous nieces and nephews.

Charles Reynolds Returns to ACC Football Squad

Charles Reynolds, who suffered a kidney injury in early September during Abilene Christian College football practice, has rejoined workouts. If no complications arise, the former Brady standout quarterback may suit up for the final two or three games. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Reynolds and spent last weekend at home.

Brady firemen win first place in a water polo race at the Hill Country Firemen's Convention held in Del Rio last week. Mrs Salter and past district and state auxiliary presidents were honored at the luncheon. The association's spring meeting will be held in Brady in April.

Teachers Approve Scholarship Fund In McCulloch County

McCulloch County Teachers Association hears John E. Hill of the Texas State Teachers Association on professional ethics. The unit votes to establish a $150 annual scholarship for a McCulloch County graduate entering teaching. Dinner and entertainment follow with local school leaders named. Next meeting set for December in the school cafeteria.

National meeting of Extension Home Economists in Kansas City

The National Association of Extension Home Economists will hold its annual meeting in Kansas City October 26 to 29. Texas will be represented by state officers and seven demonstration agents, with five honored and four recipients of Distinguished Service Awards. The Florence Hall Award will grant $100 to Loris J. Welhausen for outstanding work. The theme is Broadening Our Perspective Through Knowledge and Action as about 1,000 home economists from across the nation attend.

Open Inspection For Brady Guard Unit

Brady Armory doors open Monday night October 25 for the annual federal inspection of Co B 1st Battalion 142d Infantry Texas National Guard. Lt. William B. Clark says Lt. Col. Robert W. Brady Woman Wins Top Quilt Award at Los Angeles Fair

Mrs. A. C. Stewart of Brady earned a blue ribbon for first place with her quilt at the Los Angeles County Fair the nation’s largest of its kind. The quilt had won two prior blue ribbons at Fredericksburg and the State Fair of Texas in Dallas.
