Grand Jury Returns 8 True Bills in McCulloch County
McCulloch County Grand Jury met with Judge Joe Dibrell presiding and considered 22 cases. Eight indictments were returned with 11 no bills and three passes. Murray Jordan, DA for the 198th District, presented the cases. Indictments included Nolan Steward for theft and Felix Garcia Benavidez for burglary at Lintz's Department Store in 1970 and 1972. No bills were returned in the murder cases of Lloyd Blauvelt and Trinidad Carrion. The panel worked late Monday and reconvened Tuesday to finish.

Bud Abernathy Dies Thursday in Eden
Bud Abernathy 64 of Eden died at 1 15 a m Thursday in a local nursing home after a lengthy illness. Funeral services are set for 3 p m Saturday at Day Love Less Funeral Home Chapel Eden with burial in Eden Cemetery. Born July 28 1908 in Concho County he lived in Eden most of his life and operated a service station. He was a member of the Methodist Church and Eden Masonic Lodge. Survivors include his wife Velma a daughter Kay Capps of Brady two sisters Jess Stephens of Eden and G E Baldridge of San Angelo and four grandchildren.
