The Brady FFA boys and Lions Club postponed the turkey shoot due to heavy rain. It will be held Monday from 1:00 to 4:30 PM at the Jubilee grandstand with bull's eye, scope, and turkey-head shooting tickets available from Brady FFA and Lions members.
Beta Sigma Phi will host its annual benefit tournament featuring bridge canasta and forty-two next Tuesday November 13 at the Country Club. Afternoon session starts 2 PM and evening at 8 PM. Proceeds aid Brady Industrial Commission funds. Advance tickets four for $3. at door $1 each. Reservations to Mrs. Bill Burns or Mrs. Joe Gault.
The Brady Herald will publish next Tuesday despite the holiday on Monday. Stores close Monday so all advertising and news copy must be submitted by Saturday afternoon November 10. Management thanks readers for early cooperation.
The City of Brady approved one building permit in October for Lee Roy Kens ay to add a screen porch and ath to a residence at 1200 North Pine. Estimated cost is $800.
Frank Clamp of Camp Saba uncovers a cave in South Texas yielding well preserved bones and teeth from buffalo, camels, llamas and many animals. He believes the finds may be among the oldest in the world and could illuminate Ice Age connections. The specimens are in Austin for study and display.
Betty Richie of Brady will represent 15 counties to vie for the state queen title at the Texas Farm Bureau convention in Houston November 11 to 14. Finals Monday night will determine the state queen who earns 500 and travel to Miami Beach.
The early Civil War period in Texas saw two main railroad networks in operation, shaping troop movements and supply lines for the Confederacy. The system focused on key routes connecting major towns and strategic stations across the state.
In a correction driven rematch, Ike narrowly defeats Adlai by 34 votes in McCulloch County. Voters head to the polls next Tuesday to consider a proposed constitutional amendment allowing up to twenty dollars monthly aid for permanently and totally disabled adults ages 18 to 65 with federal matching potential.

City Council passed a new traffic code unifying regulations into one ordinance. City Attorney Sam McCollum drafted changes to satisfy State Highway Department needs for rerouting highway traffic through Brady.
Brady High School Principal C A Ethridge said no reserve seats will be sold for the Brady versus Burnet game at Burnet Friday night November 16. The district final and key 19 AA clash will operate on a first come first served basis at the gate with no reserved tickets available.
Foster Leach a 63 year old stockman and real estate man died at his Brady home at 600 Poplar Drive after a stroke and illness since February. He was born December 11 1892 in Carroll County Tennessee and spent most of his life in Fredonia before moving to Brady in 1948. He leaves a wife a son W F Billy Leach Jr three daughters and six grandchildren his mother three brothers and four sisters. Funeral services were conducted Thursday at Wilkerson Funeral Home with burial in Rest Haven Cemetery. Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers are named.
Mrs A W Moseley returned from Washington by plane after visiting daughter Quita and seeing sights in and around the capital. She attended games featuring the Chicago Cardinals and Cleveland Browns against the Redskins, the National Symphony Orchestra with Jose Iturbi, plays Auntie Mame with Rosalind Russell, Oklahoma, and Cinerama, toured the White House, watched inauguration stands rise, visited the Smithsonian and Congressional Library, Iwo Jima statue, and National Art Galleries, and joined Eastern Star Grand Chapter events in Laurel Md while visiting Virginia West Virginia and Pennsylvania.
Eisenhower carried McCulloch County by 34 votes 1292 to 1258 over Adlai Stevenson, a third county victory for a Republican after 1928 and 1962. Eight state constitutional amendments passed. teacher retirement topped margins. Governor race favored Price Daniel with 1959 votes to Bryant 160 and write-ins for O Daniel. Brady boxes provided early leads but results were delayed as vote tallies continued through noon Wednesday.

Directors reelected Harry Hanson as president and A R Malmstrom of Melvin as vice president. Owen Rudolph was reelected secretary treasurer to succeed W K Granville of Brady.
Dr. Frank Coffey of Longview will assume leadership of the McCulloch Concho Hospital in Melvin. The 32 year old physician, wife and 10 month old daughter relocate by November 14, with plans for the opening set for Monday November 19.
