Armistice and Thanksgiving Observed by Brady Merchants

Brady merchants will close on Monday November 12 for Armistice Day with the holiday falling on Sunday November 11. A September 1954 survey set Armistice Day as one of six holidays. Another survey shows Brady merchants favor observing Thanksgiving on November 29 with banks and football games planned. Federal employees observe the first Thanksgiving on November 22.

Brady FFA Teams Compete in San Saba District Meet

Brady FFA sent three teams to the San Saba district leadership contest. The junior and senior conducting teams both finished fifth among seven teams. The farm skill team, led by Charles Anglin Johnny Moran and Tommy Duncan, won second and earns a berth in the Area VII contest at San Marcos November 10. Coach E L Ross directed all teams.

Camporee At Camp Sel Mayer Draws Sixty Scouts

Sixty Boy Scouts from five troops plus five leaders attended the Tri Rivers District camporee at Camp Sel Mayer over the weekend. The program included an opening campfire, a Sunday morning religious service led by Rev. Troy Pentecost, and instruction in signaling and first aid among other outdoor skills.
