In a light turnout of 378 voters, McCulloch County approved a new state constitutional amendment allowing the Legislature to grant financial aid up to 20 dollars per month to permanently and totally disabled individuals. The local tally was 336 to 37.

Free Movie to Open Brady Yale Christmas Season

A free movie for youngsters opens Brady Christmas shopping season Saturday December 1 at 10 am in the Texas or Brady Theatres with Santa Claus distributing candy. The Chamber of Commerce Trade Extension Committee plans additional Santa visits on Brady square Saturday afternoons during the season.

Hershel Bryson reported on Charley Bryson ranch two Hereford cows that delivered twin calves each. One cow produced a bull and a heifer, the other two bull calves. all four calves are healthy and expected to grow into good stock.

Johnny Bradshaw Wins Mister BHS Title at Brady High

Johnny Bradshaw, Brady High School senior and football player, won the Mister BHS title judged by the Bulldog Bark. Twelve contestants performed skits with runners up Gray Carruthers and Gary Bryson, while Anita Jordan hosted.

The 1956 deer season opens Friday with Game Warden Bill Bennett predicting strong hunting in McCulloch County as deer are fat and plentiful. Brady sends out-of-town hunters, with 16 licenses sold to nonresidents. Burnet looks to challenge for the district crown as Brady and Burnet players are highlighted for upcoming games and injuries are monitored.

Betty Richie Lashed Against Farm Bureau Queen Crown

Betty Richie, a Brady High School student, represented McCulloch County in the Texas Farm Bureau state contest in Houston. Joanne Vaughn of Yuba won the crown and will advance to a national pageant in Miami. Donna Black of Dumas was runnerup as 1 040 delegates attended the convention.

Rochelle High School will add physics to graduation requirements replacing the sole science course chemistry. Students must take either chemistry or physics for graduation, with chemistry offered this year and physics scheduled for next year.
