Filibusters, upcoming executive sessions, and confirmations for Dorsey Hardeman and others loom, with Austin receptions planned and a Memorial Day golf outing at Brady municipal course.
Mr and Mrs Don Taylor Mr and Mrs Carl Keith and Mr and Mrs L Dr Henderson spent last weekend in Ruidoso to attend the horse races. They traveled for leisure and enjoyed the event at the local track.
Brady Independent School District trustees will discuss the Texas transfer law at their regular Monday 7 59 p m meeting in the administration building. The agenda includes bank deposi tory selection for two years election judge for the Rochelle Brady consolidation and personnel and financial reports plus other business.
A new Pentecostal Lighthouse church opens at the old Baptist Mission on Mason Road with D B Hallford as pastor. Willian Covey of Astin leads a QA revival starting Saturday at 7 50 p m, with all welcome to attend.
The Mason County Singing Convention will meet Sunday in the First Methodist Church in Mason starting at 2 p.m. Local residents and singers are invited to join in the event at the church on Main Street.
The Heart of Texas Golf Tournament draws 107 entrants through Wednesday noon with players from North Palm Beach Florida to local Austin clubs. The Austin delegation of seven leads out of town entrants as Houston and San Antonio send six golfers each and more registrations are expected by the Thursday 6 p.m. deadline.
A recurring classified submitted by Kathy Jackson draws comment and humor among readers. The ad touts a 19546 Chevrolet road car in good shape and features playful lines about circling Leo’s and knowing the way to the High School. Readers are invited to use The Brodyv Standard-Herald want ads.
Susan Locklear daughter of Mr and Mrs Edward Locklear and a second year journalism student at Angelo State University is employed at The Brady Standard Herald for the summer. She will help in the office assist in news writing and photography.

McCulloch County 4-H members took part in the State Wool and Mohair Judging Contest in San Angelo. The Senior team qualified for the National Wool Judging Contest in Sonora in June. Members include Larry Ringer Lisa Weaver Bob Burk and Cynthia Whitworth. Junior members attending were Menzies McWilliam Cindy Ringer Susan Bratton and Terry Whitworth.
Col. Webster Wilder of San Antonio defends the Pearl o Texas Business men’s Golf Tournament title as about 28 players compete at the Brady Municipal Golf Course. The event runs over Memorial Day weekend with rounds, entertainment for visiting wives, and over 31,500 in prizes.

The £394 annual champion ship shoot of the Texas Muzzle Loading Rifle Association will be held June 12 to 15 at the Kenneth Medlock Memorial Range in Brady. About 150 shooters from across Texas and neighboring states compete for medals, trophies, and the State Champion title currently held for four years by Jerry Sthedes of Eagle Pass. The event features diverse matches for all ages and includes new Eagle Feather and sibling/partnership events.
