Brady High School Band Concert Honors Booster Presidents

The Brady High School Bulldog Band presents a Sunday concert at 3 p.m. in the BHS auditorium to honor past Band Booster presidents. Ernst Otte leads the boosters. former presidents include Egan Fowler and others. The program features a Scott folk medley, a Brady Band library march, trumpets wild trio, polkas, a tango, marches and popular numbers. Tickets cost 50 cents for adults and 25 cents for children.

Dr. Joe B. Rushing, AVP of Howard Payne College, will address Lohn High School seniors at 8 p m Friday in the Lohn Tabernacle. Jubilee Auto Races Set Sunday If Dry Weather

Jubilee auto race drivers await dry weather to resume at the grandstand after three weeks of rainouts. A special stunt car is ready to test two wheeled distance and a flip. Races begin at 3 p.m. Sunday if they start at all.

Brady High Athletes to Be Honored at Barbecue Event

Brady schoolboys who played sports will be celebrated at the Ol Hound Dawes spring barbecue, moved to Bulldoe Stadium to avoid wet grounds. The event on May 23 begins serving at 7 p.m. with tickets 1 for adults and 50 cents for children. Awards will go to the best back and best line man from the 1856 Brady High football squad.

Gas Company Repairs Break in River Line Near Brady

Empire Southern Gas Company fixed a submerged 6 inch line under the Colorado River near the Santa Anna highway bridge by Tuesday afternoon. Temporary 2 inch line across the bridge restored service by 6 pm after industrial customers were cut off and others asked to conserve. Summer Recreation Events Begin June 3

Brady city officials announce the summer recreation program starting June 3 with swimming classes, a story hour, a track program for boys, and tennis instruction. C A Reynolds is general supervisor, K Y Owens oversees pool swimming, C D York handles track at the high school stadium, and Corky Pence directs tennis with four week classes and a planned tournament. The pool opens daily for paid swimmers and courts stay lit to 10 p.m. for adults.

Army worm warning issued for oats countrywide

County Agent Cusenbary warns that army worms are moving east of Met loch and could damage oats quickly. He notes larvae feed on leaves and multiplication is rapid. Insecticides suggested include 10 percent DDT or 20 percent toxaphene dust 10 to 15 pounds per acre or toxaphene DDT mix 11 to 13 quarts per acre as spray. Contact the county agent if armyworms are found.
