Heart of Texas to Open New Pulverizing Plant in Brady
The Heart of Texas Mining Corp plans an open house and dedication for its new Brady pulverizing plant on June 9. Texas Railroad Commissioner Jim Lanedon will headline a speaker lineup including executives from Halliburton Tulsa Dow Chemical Fort Worth and other firms. Activities run 2 PM to 6 PM with a barbecue, tours of the dry plant and milling operations, and visitors welcomed from 2 to 6. Local entities assist, including Brady city, the Chamber of Commerce, and the McCulloch Electric Co-op.

Swim Pool Opens May 2 With New Hours
The Municipal Golf Course pool prepares to open the season on Tuesday May 2 with new hours seven days a week from 1:99 p.m. Prices stay the same with 6 cents for adults 4 for students 12 to high school and 25 cents for under 12. Tots under years enter free. Season tickets run 10 for adults 750 for students and 50 for children under 12. Free swimming classes, funded by the City, start June 1 and run through June 26.

Rockwood Woman Injured Lubbock Man Dies in Wreck
Mrs. Cora Burson Bryan of Rockwood was seriously injured when two cars collided on U S 233 at Rockwood. Frank W. Higinbotham of Lubbock, 4, was killed. His body was sent to Santa Anna funeral home. Bryan was taken to Brady Hospital. The crash occurred as Higinbotham drove north toward Santa Anna while Bryan appeared to attempt a left turn.

Rufus McFarlin Dies at 97 Father of Brady Man
Rufus McFarlin of Bertram died Friday at a Kempas nursing home at age 97 after a year and a half of ill health. Funeral services were held Sunday in the Bertram Methodist Church with burial in South Sabriel Cemetery. Survivors include his son in Fredy and four other sons, Ra Fue McPartin of Bertram and Tom McPartin of Austin, four daughters, 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. A longtime Methodist, he was born October 11, 1866, the oldest resident of Harnet County, son of John Green and Nancy Jones McFarlin. His father fought in the Texas Independence and Indian War and received land in Mills County. He married Minnie Powell in 1895. she died in November 1939.

Grain Depot Nears Completion at Lohn by Farmers Co op
Farmers and Ranchers Co op builds a grain receiving depot at Lohn to save farmers from hauling to Brady. The facility features 50 foot scales and a dump pit with an overhead elevator to load trucks or store grain. Cost estimates run 15000 to 20000 dollars and completion is timed for harvest.

Four delegates selected at the county convention in Brady will represent McCulloch County at the state Democratic convention on June 16. Brady Bulldogs place third in the state sprint relay with a 43.0 time in Austin behind Liberty and Haske! Representing Brady were Danny Schill Bubba Harris Bobbie Wade and Elzia Williams coach Ch. Y. Owens notes Liberty beat them like they beat Liberty at regional. Harris also competed in the long jump with a 20 feet 9 inches effort hindered by illness earlier in the week.

The Brady Tigers defeated the Eden Indians 6-1 on Sunday. Lopes opened scoring with a fourth inning hit driving in Sandoval and Roper.
