Dedication of UH Optometry Building Highlights Growth
Dr. Richard Lane attends the dedication of the University of Houston College of Optometry’s new $10 million Central Campus building and four day visual research symposium. The facility covers 130000 plus square feet with 19 research labs on the third floor and a clinic serving 31000 patients annually. Enrollment grows from 300 to over 400 as the school expands. A museum displays equipment and diplomas from pioneer optometrist Dr. Ragsdale who retired after a long Texas career.

Dr. Jerry Neely a West Texan and former high school coach now a Southwest Texas State University professor will deliver the commencement address at Brady High School in Bulldog Stadium. The ceremony on Thursday May 26 begins at 8 30 p m. Neely born in Sweetwater grew through Abilene and Jacksboro life and earned a BBA from McMurry College in 1966 after a versatile athletic career and early coaching in West Texas.
