James Feazelle former city superintendent resigned recently was hired by the City of Brady as water well maintenance and chlorination supervisor with unanimous council approval. He starts May 9 and will train staff, assist the new superintendent, and cover emergencies.
Lincoln Lohn and Clyde Behrens sought help to identify two brass tokens found near Brady. One bears H. M. Rice Brady Texas Good for 1 Drink, unearthed 1948, while the other reads Post Exchange Fort Brady Good for 5e in ndse, found about 1950 near Three Way on U S 87. The note asks readers to reveal Fort Brady origins and Post Exchange merchandise.
The Brady Bulldog Band, in Class C with schools of up to 450 students, won first place in both field maneuvers and street parade at the 39th Annual Music and Blossom Festival in Canon City, out of 27 bands. Judges praised tone and discipline. the group scored 92.63. The trip included tours of the Government Testing Center, Air Force Academy, and Flying W Ranch with Odessa High School Band.
Master Masons and all sojourners are invited to an open meeting of Brady Masonic Lodge No. 628 on Tuesday night May 10 at 630. A buffet supper will be served and Tom Yantis of Brownwood past Grandmaster will speak.
Mrs. W A Dodds addressed Brady High DECA at the annual banquet in the Brady Schools Cafeteria. Theresa Lira received the Outstanding Student in DECA for 1976 77 while James Ellison earned Most Improved Student. Sherri Donoho was named DECA president for the upcoming year as Lloyd Robles retires, with Teddy Harris set to become vice mayor as May Nursing Home Week is proclaimed by Mayor Billy Jack Neal.
Rube B K Huffman 84 of Route 1 Brady died at 10 45 am Tuesday in Heart of Texas Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Buried at Live Oak Cemetery after services conducted by Henry McBroom at Wilkerson Memorial Chapel. He was born July 16 1893 in Field Creek and lived 74 years in McCulloch County. A World War I veteran, he belonged to the Fourth and Bridge Street Church of Christ and married Naomi Burk in Brady. Surviving are two sons Herbert and Gerald Huffman both of Brady, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
