Brady Bulldog Band Spring Concert Opens Music Week

The Brady Bulldog Band presents its spring concert Sunday at 3 p.m. in the high school auditorium as the final National Music Week event. Drum major for next year will be announced, with the identity kept secret until Sunday. James Mallow directs a program of marches Broadway selections overtures and popular music featuring Melvin Cowan Nancy Archer and Paul Estrada in a trumpet trio. The band plays Parade of the Charioteers from Pen Hut and Green Willow from a Broadway show. Tickets cost 50 cents for adults and 25 cents for students.

Safari hunter Jim Underwood returns to Brady in 1961 tale

Star-Telegram reports Jim Underwood the Abilene barbecue king has returned from an East Africa safari. He hunted the big five plus many smaller species, noting Kenya's limits and recalling his Brady roots. The note also mentions D L Wheeler and a community toast to Bitzy Jarvis.

Lohn School Superintendent Resigns for Walnut Springs

D N Edwards, long time Lohn educator and superintendent for five years, will resign July 1 to take the Walnut Springs post in Bosque County. A Stephenville native, he is a Texas A M graduate of 1948 and earned a 1954 Texas Tech master’s degree. He leaves behind wife and four children and two elementary teachers also resigning.

Band Class Slated For Beginners

Brady Band Director James Mallow will start a 4 p m beginners band class for fifth graders in the high school band hall. The hour long sessions run daily after school until summer break with about three students enrolled and asked to bring instruments on Monday.

Brady teachers honored as PTA pins mark year

A Brady junior high teacher, A H Floyd, received a 25 year pin at a May PTA meeting held in the South Ward School auditorium. Supt C A Reynolds presented the award and praised school programs and athletic success.

Brady Woman Wins Coleman Golf Title in Handicap Meet

Mrs Albert McCulloh captured the Coleman women's handicap golf championship with Mrs Steve King finishing third. Brady competitors included Mrs Dave Quinn Mrs Richard Winters and Mrs George Caruthers among about 50 players from 10 towns.

Baylor Hospital Announces Harvison Recovery Update

Kenneth Harvison, KNEL announcer, called friends from Baylor Hospital Dallas to say the Tuesday operation was a success and that he is feeling fairly well. His room was moved to 213 at Baylor.

Mrs. W. R. Malone spent the weekend in Austin with her son in law and daughter Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Samuelson and daughters. She returned to Brady Sunday with granddaughter Rue Ann Samuelson for a week’s visit.

FHA Presents Check In Historic Meeting

A $550,000 check from the Farmers Home Administration was delivered to Brady to start Brady Lake work as part of a $1.485 million loan. The City will draw more funds as needed while purchasing land and paying engineering fees. The loan closes with city and FHA representatives, city officials, engineers, and conservation staff in attendance.
