A&M Signs Up Bulldog Tackle Johnny Moran

Brady High athlete Johnny Moran committed to Texas A&M College on an athletic scholarship. Moran, 6 foot 3 and about 200 pounds, earned all district honors in 1957 and 1958, lettered in football and track, played freshman basketball, and was active in Brady Bulldog Band and Stardusters. He is the son of Mr and Mrs John F Moran.

Music Week Observances Planned Across Brady Area

A Brady area observance of National Music Week features multiple programs led by the Music Club and local churches. Highlights include a May 3 Junior High Band concert, May 5 hymn services, KNEL radio program May 6, and a May 10 Brady High School Band concert with national music education aims nationwide.

Fire Damages Home on Voca Road Near Brady Mills

A noon Thursday fire damaged the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Williams on Voca Road about 200 yards southeast of Brady Mills. No occupants were present. neighbors reported smoke and called the alarm. The refrigerator is suspected as the start, with severe damage to the kitchen and smoke and water impact in other rooms.

Hallum Named Bank Director in Brady National Bank

Dr. B A Hallum Jr of Brady Hospital medical staff was named director of Brady National Bank, replacing Roy D Spears. Hallum, Brady native, is active in civic and church affairs and is immediate past president of the Brady Chamber of Commerce.

Music Week Proclamation Declares National Week Observance

Brady Mayor G. C. Kirk proclaims National Music Week from May 1 to 7 inviting Brady citizens to participate in a successful observance. The proclamation endorses Eisenhower's message to the National Federation of Music Clubs and highlights the joy and standards of music.

Brady Junior High Band Plans Spring Concert

The Brady Junior High Band will present a Sunday 3 p m spring concert in the Brady High School auditorium. The sweetheart will be presented by bandsmen with Sally Miller Nettie Carr Elizabeth Ricks Saundra Ruffin and Diane King performing a vocal number. An Ima and Ona Kensing number and other band sections will be spotlighted. 65 Boys and 18 Men On Trip to Austin

Sixty-five FFA and 4 H boys left Brady on an educational trip to Austin to visit the Legislature and meet Governor Price Daniel. They traveled in private cars driven by 18 county men, with John Holcomb organizing the arrangements as executive secretary of the Texas Vocational Agricultural Teachers Association.

Brady High Names Honor Grads and Top Graduates

Brady High School announces the senior class honors with Burton McCord as valedictorian and Charlotte Griffith as salutatorian. Burton carries a 96.11 grade average while Charlotte holds a 4.1 GPA. Fifty eight seniors are candidates for graduation.

Brady High School honors 36 students on all A honor roll

Thirty-six Brady High School students earned all A grades in the fifth six weeks. Seniors Burton McCord and Charlotte Griffith lead a list that includes 11 juniors and seven sophomores. Commencement plans set for May 25 with rain venue fallback. Burton, 17, son of L. D. Mask, is Student Council president and National Honor Society member with three football letters. Charlotte, also 17, daughter of H. D. Griffith, is Student Council member, co editor of the Bulldog Bark and active in band and multiple school clubs.

15 Year Service Award for Fife Weatherman

James Finlay Sr. received a 15 year pin for work as a weather observer at Fife. The U.S. Department of Commerce presented the award with praise from Gilbert Stegall, supervising climatologist, noting his contribution to local climatological records and urging many more years of service.

Police Seek Help to Stop Dog Poisoners in Brady

Police Chief Carl Lenhart warned Brady residents about a dog poisoning outbreak and urged public cooperation. He asked observers to note suspicious activity, capture car details, and report it to the Police Department. He stressed that poisoners will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law and warned of dangers to children.

Brady Dentist to Be Honored at State Dental Convention

Dr. Posey Collins of Brady will receive the Order of the Good Fellow in San Antonio at the Texas State Dental Society annual convention. The honor recognizes 25 years of membership as the convention runs at the Gunter Hotel through May 6, with Mrs. Collins accompanying him.

Brady student earns third in KE P Mead Speaking Contest

Billy Barsch of Brady won third place in the finals of the KE P Mead Speaking Contest at Hardin Simmons University last week. In the freshman men’s division he received a $10 scholarship award. Billy is the son of Mr and Mrs Otto Barsch of Brady.
