Brady voters eye three contests in Tuesday election
Three contests including a late write in bid may spark interest in Brady city election Tuesday. Polls open 8 a m to 4 p m at the courthouse. An alderman seat for a one year term and two council seats are on the ballot along with city secretary. Incumbent alderman Leo Oates resigns to run for mayor. G Kirk will mount a write in bid. May or Dr A Harkrider retires after eight years on council. Other candidates include M rs W P Jones seeking reelection as city secretary and James K E Underwood challenging.

A city and county contract for a Heart of Texas marker was let to Earl Finny of Brady Monument Works. The granite tower will stand on the courthouse lawn, be ten feet tall, feature a Texas map on a red granite base, and require no maintenance.

Rochelle Woman Named Sixth District President of TEWC

Graveside funeral services for F B Thomas 70 of Santa Anna were held after he died Tuesday night March 18 in a Santa Anna hospital following a stroke. Hydrants To Be Flushed In Brady This Weekend
City crews will flush water lines starting 4 p m Friday to remove years of rust. Some residents may see red water during flushing while others are unaffected. Hydrants will run 5 to 20 minutes each as almost all lines are cleaned. Officials expect to finish by Sunday morning at the latest.

Mrs R A Rutherford Sr celebrated her 100th birthday in Brady area amid visits from children grandchildren and great grandchildren. Born March 27 1858 in Bastrop County she moved to Brady circa 1904 and lives with daughter and son in law Frank and Mrs Ogden. Her family noted her sharp mind despite limits of hearing and sight and several relatives visited from Dallas Fort Worth Seagoville Coffeeville and San Antonio. Juliana Lindsay daughter of K D Lindsay also marked an eight birthday the same day.
