Earl Rudder Dies State Hero and Former Brady Mayor
Maj. Gen. (ret.) James Earl Rudder 59 of College Station and former Brady mayor died at St. Luke's Hospital Houston after two months illness. He suffered a kidney infection and stroke brain hemorrhage leading to circulatory collapse. Rudder led U S Rangers on Normandy cliffs in 1944 and received multiple decorations. He served as mayor of Brady 1946 1952 and held various public roles before retiring in 1967 after 35 years in service.

Russ Holland Named To Hall Of Honor
Russ Holland former Brady High School coach will join four others in the Texas High School Coaches Association Hall of Honor at Houston Coaching School on Aug 6. The inductees include James Leon Vineyard Terrell J W Blaine Plainview C B Roland Alvin and William E Billy Cooper. Holland known as Doc led Brady to three state track titles and 16 years with the Bulldogs before moving to Kingsville in 1951. He also earned a BA from Daniel Baker and an MA from Texas A&M University.
