Brady hosts a sidewalk sale with about ten stores participating. Merchants display wares outside their shops. Ads include coupons to be deposited in the originating store. The Brady Chamber of Commerce will conduct the drawing Monday morning after verifying coupon deposits.
McCulloch County commissioners renew the state Commodity Program for another year. They abandon portions of Old Mason Road and F. M. 1028, with hearings set for March 31 at 2 p m. Judge Roger George to post notices. Other actions include a planned Brady flea market in Richards Park, rural fire equipment aid, a $2.50 library fund raise, a divorce case hearing for Harold Schmidt vs. McCulloch County on April 17, and a loan consideration on oil royalties. IBM equipment changes and a one year renewal of the computer contract.
Brady high school track coach Del Wilson announced a schedule change as the Brady Bulldogs will enter the Brownwood Relays instead of Eldorado’s Plateau Relays. The mixed division meet features opponents Hamlin Haskell Comanche Anson Coleman and others with finals at 9 30 a m and running finals at 2 45 p m.
Dan Crawford of Eatontown New Jersey returned home Tuesday after spending several days with his parents Mr and Mrs Frank Crawford at their home He is stationed at Fort Monmouth and has re enlisted in the Army for three years Other guests included Mr and Mrs Harold Calley and Bob of Odessa Jim Crawford of Monahans Mr and Mrs B Arthur of Abilene Mrs Clint Calley of Brady and Naomi McLeod of Midland
McCulloch County Heart Fund campaign kicks off on Saturday with the youth from Fourth and Bridge Street Church of Christ going door to door. They will distribute American Heart Association literature as they solicit support through March 25 under team captains Connie Turner Lisa Dodds Vickie Turner Jana Taliaferro Terry Penn Leston Fields Dan Dahlberg Steven Dahlberg Terry Fletcher and Connie Purcell.
Brady Independent School District sets a 180 classroom day calendar for the 1972 73 year with 10 days of teacher in service. Key dates include Aug 14 18 inservice, Sept 4 first day, Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, spring vacation, and May 25 26 graduation.
The 13th Brady High School Lions Scholarship Awards banquet was held Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Brady School cafeteria. Everett J Grindstaff of Bal linger, director of the State Bar of Texas and candidate for International Director of Lions International, was the guest speaker.
Brady Independent School District voters elect 64 teachers at a regular board meeting. The board discussed annexation, computer billing, textbook selections, calendar adoption, a new 18 seat van bus, lighting upgrades, and transfers for 1972 73 with a net basketball deficit of 790 dollars.
General Telephone Co of the Southwest hosted a luncheon at Plateau Restaurant for Heart of Texas Memorial Hospital board members and local media. It presented a 2000 dollar check toward the hospital building fund, the final payment of a 4000 dollar pledge. Don Reese and Hardin H. Jones spoke for the donors, with W R Cornelius also present.
