Brady churches unite for World Day of Prayer at First Methodist Church at 3 p m Friday with Miss Dora Ryan leading. The service opens in Fiji and spans 1 008 languages in prayer and praise across continents. Written by Mrs Vaseady a Hungarian refugee.
Walter Brouillette, 30, indicted for the murder of Otte, 55, in Fife, had his trial postponed in 35th District Court after defense moved to quash the indictment over grand juror poll tax eligibility. Judge A O Newman delayed ruling pending a later hearing as questions of law linger. Brouillette remains jailed in McCulloch County without bond.
The McCulloch County Red Cross chapter plans a fund drive starting next Monday with a goal of 6516. Red Cross workers meet at the Country Club at noon to receive instructions. Dr. Albert McCulloch chairs the drive, aided by Joe Barekman, Mrs. Barry Francks, Ray Cates, Hy mie Myers, Mrs. Henrietta Vann, Mrs. Norbert Ruiz, and Mrs. J. G. Clawson representing various groups.
Brady teachers were re elected by the School Board on Monday night. The trustee election is set for Saturday April 6. Board President Maurice Kidd seeks re election while Dry G H Ricks files for the vacancy created by Charlie Dye resignation. Dr Ricks previously served on the board. Candidates may file until ten days before the election.
Voters in the Rochelle school district will elect three trustees on Saturday April 6. terms for Eddie Knutson Bill Huffman and Ira Murrah expire. The board announced reappointments and resignations including Mrs Ruby Collins Mrs Eleanor Paley Mrs Berta Sue Hubbard Miss Ruth Watson and others. HH V Sawyer and Jerrell Rice were re elected and Supt C W Thompson’s contract extended.
Campbell Hicks, long time race manager of the July Jubilee, was elected vice president of the Texas Regime Civeat at the circuit meeting in Junction. M. McCarver succeeded as president. Calvin Bierschwale was re elected secretary treasurer. Jack Locklear remained Jubilee representative on the board. Eight towns are members Brady Fredericksburg Sonora Boerne Junction New Braunfels Austin and San Antonio. New rule lets a judge place a guilty horse immediately behind its fouled rival rather than last. apprentice jockey rule renewed grants 45 pound weight allowance during first year.
County landowners are urged to cooperate in a rabies control drive next week. Poisoned horse meat bait will be distributed from the courthouse on Wednesday March 13 from a.m. to 6 p.m. Volunteers should prepare small bait balls and establish bait stations not larger than 100 yards square, placing baits by hand under cover to avoid non target animals.
The Brady area faces competition as it seeks new payrolls through manufacturing distributive tourism or service firms. Growth hinges on time, work, and money with prospects found through desire and persistent effort despite long location processes.
In the first week 161 seat options for the new grandstand at Brady High were sold. Options cost $10 each with installment plans available. Tax office prompted the sale as part of the school building plan.

Mrs G T Bailey former Alice Valkmann wife of the Intercontinental Manufacturing Company supervisor was found dead of a heart attack at her home seven miles north of Menard She was born March 25 1012 in Menard and had lived there all her life Funeral services will be held Friday at Pope Episcopal Church in Menard. Survivors include her husband Walter Butch Nocike a daughter and several siblings in Menard and nearby towns.
The Brady Relays golf tournament listings show 87 entrants from 16 schools. Participants include teams from Abilene Amrits, Oatlingers, Big Lake, Gatesville, Lampasas, Menard, Palo Duro, San Angelo, Stephenville, and Winters as tee off times are announced for Saturday.
The annual spring revival at the First Methodist Church starts Sunday and runs through March 17 with services each morning Monday through Friday at 7 o clock and each evening at 7 30. Guest preacher Rev Grady I Peters of Big Lake assists local pastor Rev T K Anderson and is noted for pastoring Eden San Angelo and Big Lake assignments.
Fifty six dogs and six cats were vaccinated against rabies at the Malvin Community Center last Friday by Deputy J. So King. The vaccination program was sponsored by the Melvin Ilinh School PEA chanter. FRA bags plan to continue yearly near this date with input from FRA advisor T. Wood.
