Marching Festival Brings 26 Bands to Brady This Weekend
More than 1 600 high school players join Brady and Abilene Christian College in the ninth Heart Of Texas Band Festival. Twenty six bands compete, eight trophies awarded, and a Friday night marching contest at Bulldog Stadium. Concert classes added for smaller bands. Tickets cost 50 cents adults, 25 cents students. Band parade caps the event Saturday with a mass concert and trophy presentation.

With the filing deadline approaching on Saturday Brady voters face no candidates yet for three council seats. Aldermen Jack Keyser Aubrey Townsend and Louis Bierman are all up for re election while four applicants seek the chief of police post to be appointed April 2. Applications for the police job are due by March 15.

Brady has recovered a 5 percent fire insurance credit after last year’s loss. Lions To Aid In Pupil's Operation
Lupe Moreno a 12 year old Brady Junior High sixth grader will undergo a tonsillectomy at Brady Hospital Friday morning. The Brady Lions Club and attending surgeon arrange the operation. Lupe shines shoes after school and on Saturdays at a local domino hall. While hospitalized the shoe shining duties will be 4 to help fund the operation a spokesman said.
