Construction has begun on detention dams 17 and 18A in McCulloch and Menard Counties to complete the Brady Creek Flood Prevention Program started in 1951. Site 17 on the Arlene Noyes Miller ranch, built by DePauw Construction Co. of Amarillo, costs 174613.92 dollars and stores 8717 acre feet of flood water. Site 18A on the Russell Callan ranch in Menard County, built by Ford Allen Construction Co. of Sonora, costs 78535.06 dollars with 239 acres of detention.

Cisco Man's Pickup Crashes Into Parked Car on South Bridge
A Cisco man swerved off South Bridge Street and struck a parked car, meter, and sign after allegedly dozing off while driving from Menard. The owner, Mrs. Johnnie Cooper of Brady, reported about 200 dollars in damages to her vehicle. city property damage was around 70 dollars. the pickup sustained 100 dollars in damage. No injuries were reported. Police Chief Dorman Gibbs said the truck was moving about 25 mph.

Sister-in-law travels to aid brother-in-law after stroke

A&M Student Employed By Local SCS Unit

72 Pints Required For Blood Program

Parade Entries Sought for County July Jubilee
Parade entries for the July Jubilee must be submitted by noon Monday. James Isbell announced the county event aims to include rural communities and not just Brady. As of Thursday morning eight commercial floats, 18 club floats, and six visiting entries had registered, with bands promised from Fort Sam Houston and Lackland Air Force Base.

Navy mine specialist turns hobbyist lure maker in Brady
Jack Womack, a 20 year Navy veteran who disposed of mines in the Pacific, now ties flies and molds fishing lures in his Brady workshop. He sells some through local stores and does occasional dynamiting work, recalling the dangers of bomb disposal from Majure Marshall Islands to ships and shore tasks across the Pacific.
