Mrs J R Nichols Dies in Eden Hospital
Mrs. J R Nichols age 80 of Melvin died at 10 a m Tuesday in Concho County Hospital after a long illness. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p m in Melvin Baptist Church with Rev C L Price officiating. Burial followed in Rest Haven Cemetery. Born April 7 1892 in Oklahoma she had lived in Melvin area 34 years and was a Baptist and Eastern Star member. Survived by three daughters Leena Anderson Irving Ollie Mae Malmstrom Angleton and Cleo Schmidt San Angelo a sister Eula Lee Fritz San Angelo seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Brady High Band to Camp at Inks Lake State Park
Brady High School band under director James Mallow will hold summer rehearsals starting July 31 and execute a camp at Inks Lake State Park August 2 to 4 with 9 am full band sessions August 7 to 11 and freshmen tryouts August 14 to 18. Each student must bring cot linens towels and is assigned a cabin mate with one adult sponsor per cabin. Fee per student is 1.50 payable July 31 to Brady Band Boosters.

McCulloch 4 Hers Exhibit At Horse Show In Sweetwater
Four McCulloch County 4 H members competed at the District 4 H Horse Show in Sweetwater last Saturday. Darrell Probst and Calvin McWilliams each placed eighth, with Patti Bobo and Smoky respectively. Menzies McWilliams earned ninth with Bill, Irby McWilliams competed but did not place top ten. The State 4 H Horse Show is set for San Antonio July 19 22.

Heart of Texas Crusade Begins in Brady Sunday
A large evangelistic crusade sponsored by local churches opens Sunday evening in Brady at Bulldog Stadium running nightly through July 23. Rev. Ray Ash chairs the event with A. B. Lightfoot as guest evangelist and Sam Allan leading songs. A youth taco supper and a magic show accompany the meetings. Attendees expected from Mason Brownwood and Abilene.

Local merchants met at the Chamber of Commerce office and approved a Dollar Day on August 2 in Brady. They also scheduled a mammoth Sidewalk Sale for September 16 and a large Dollar Day event for early October with Chamber manager George Purcell and the Retail Merchants' Committee promoting participation.
