Minor Accidents Mar Weekend Police Busy
City officers logged six wrecks within the city and twelve traffic violations from July 1 to July 4. A pickup with a horse trailer hit a parked El Camino at the race track while another crash involved Jan Wilkinson in a Pontiac hitting a parked car. Multiple collisions caused around $200 in damage each, with officers citing four accidents investigated by Assistant Police Chief Winfred Dove and two by Policeman Bill Strickland. One rider suffered a broken collar bone and two broken ribs after a collision between a Honda bike and a car on Cypress and West Ninth. The aftermath included a reminder that all street vehicles must be registered with current licenses and operator driving licenses. The police also patrolled against burglaries following last week’s break-ins.

Mrs. Floy Denson, 53, of Hext, was charged with murder of her brother in law Chester Arthur Pitman in Menard County. She is held in Menard County jail on a $5,000 bond after statements from witnesses were taken by District Attorney V Murray Jordan.

Cool Front Drops Mercury Across Brady Area
A cool front moved into the Heart of Texas Tuesday about noon, cooling the area and bringing a trace of rain in Brady. Temperatures fell over 10 degrees in a few hours after the shower as fans at the track wore blankets and sweaters. Rain totals included .50 in Brady and a trace to .20 in Voca. The weather stayed cool through Thursday.
