The Brady Chamber of Commerce seeks hunting site listings in McCulloch County. CC Manager George Purcell says inquiries come daily for deer turkey quail and dove leases by day or by season and urges listings as hunting season has ended.

Rochelle to Honor Ex Grid Coaches Banquet

Former Rochelle grid coaches will be honored at the annual football banquet in the Rochelle School Cafeteria at 7 p m on February 6. Sponsored by the Rochelle Men's Club the event will feature Thur man Tugboat Jones as guest speaker. The first Rochelle team played in 1924 with coach Red Floyd. Only 75 tickets are available at $1 per plate.

Nugent Named Chairman of House Rules Committee

House Speaker Gus Mutscher announced State Rep. James E. Nugent of Kerrville as Chairman of the House Committee on Rules. Nugent will also serve on Revenue and Taxation, Criminal Jurisprudence, Judicial Districts and Motor Transportation. he represents the 55th District centered in McCulloch County.

McCulloch Co UF Pays 80 Percent of Campaign Budget

The McCulloch County United Fund board voted to pay 80 percent of the campaign budget to 13 agencies after the drive fell short of its $14,000 goal, raising $10,097.66 since October. President Larry Smith noted the shortfall was influenced by drought and economy, but the amount matched past years. The meeting included nominating committee members to appoint seven directors for three-year terms and one for two years, with new directors taking office March 31. agencies and allocations were listed with actual receipts.

License Plates Go On Sale Monday In McCulloch County

Vernon Waddill Jr McCulloch County Tax Assessor-Collector says new license plates go on sale Monday February 1 with first sales limited by new procedures. Owners must bring intact registration forms sent from Austin and no longer need car titles or last year papers. Passenger plates are white with black numbers and prestige plates are white with red letters or numerals.

Five Mexican veterinary students visit Brady and area

Five third year veterinary students from Mexico City visited Brady this week. They toured Brady Veterinary Hospital with Dr. J S King and visited the King Ranch Austin Tommy Brook Ranch and Black Champ Farm at Waxahachie. The group plans trips to Texas A M University and exits for Mexico and other U S destinations after their Brady stay.

Mozelle Glenn Brady Pioneer Dies at 83

Mozelle Glenn 83 long time Brady resident died at 10 30 a m Wednesday at Brady Hills Nursing Center after a long illness. Funeral 2 p m Friday in Wilkerson Memorial Chapel with Rev Bill Boswell of First Christian Church officiating. Burial in Live Oak Cemetery. Born December 26 1887 in Brady she lived here all her life ranching interests in McCulloch County active in Sorosis Club and First Christian Church. Survived by sister Mrs C A Gavit Brady brother L J Glenn Brady and many nieces and nephews. Nephews to serve as pallbearers.

McCulloch County Opposes San Angelo Water Wells Plan

Local residents warn drilling wells in McCulloch County to pipe water to San Angelo could drain the Hickory sandstone source supplying Brady and area farms. They cite a 1961 survey showing 75 million acre feet in transient storage, oppose pumping 18 million gallons daily, and favor constructing a dam near Stacy to secure their own water future.
