Bloodmobile Visit Yields 102 Pints From 116 Donors

The Bloodmobile collected 102 pints from 116 donors on Tuesday, including one two gallon donor John Hare and three one gallon donors Shirley Hargrove H E Stromquist and Alvin Williams. Many new donors aided the drive with support from the Red Cross Lions Club Young Homemakers First United Methodist Church WSCS and area volunteers.

John L. Gary Dies at 84 in McCulloch County

John Leonard Gary 84 of Lohn died Wednesday at Heart of Texas Memorial Hospital after a short illness. Funeral 2 p.m. Friday at Wilkerson Memorial Chapel with burial in Rest Haven Cemetery. Survived by Maggie Mae Coats Gary wife. son W. T. Gary Brady. daughters Fount Stroope Brady and E A Fowler San Angelo. brothers Elmer Temple Emmett Weslaco Robert Lee Austin. sisters Ella Buchanan Groves I R Jackson Coleman Vinnie Wright Dallas. 10 grandchildren 13 great grandchildren.

Teen-agers Lead January March of Dimes Drive

Youth leader Charlotte Thompson announces the Go MOD Day on January 23 as Brady High School students head the youth action program for the March of Dimes drive to prevent birth defects. Mothers' March volunteers plan January 26 campaigns to raise funds for birth defect centers nationwide including five in Texas.

McCulloch County Banks Elect Directors At Meeting

Two McCulloch County banks elected new directors at stockholders meetings held earlier this month. The First National Bank at Melvin added two directors Forrest Barron and R J Gartman with others joining as associate directors. The Commercial National Bank in Brady added Hart Fowler as director. Other banks kept most officers and dividends at 12 percent for 1970 and 15 percent for the Brady Savings and Loan. The Brady National Bank has not yet held a meeting, set for Jan 26.

Brady Churches Observe Annual Week of Prayer

Five Brady churches join for a 7 p m Sunday service at St Patrick's Catholic Church to mark the Week of Prayer. Rev Henry Moore of Brady Presbyterian will preach. Participating: Brady Presbyterian First Christian St Pauls Episcopal and St Patrick's. All believers invited.

Brady Bulldogs defeat Llano Yellowjackets 89 to 66 behind Willie Jones 25 points and strong all around play. Brady improves to 12 7 while sharing first place in league with Burnet at 3 0. McLeod praises balance and rebounding as Brady shoots 41 percent and outboards Llano 48 31. Next games against San Saba and Burnet kick off the rest of the first round.

Mrs Lela Blasdell Dies Here at 88

Mrs Lela Blasdell, 88, of Brady and formerly of Mason, died at 1 a.m. Thursday at Heart of Texas Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Funeral services are pending at Wilkerson Funeral Home in Brady. Details were not available as The Standard went to press.

Heart of Texas Jamboree Meeting At Scout Lodge

The Heart of Texas Jamboree holds its monthly meeting Saturday at 7 30 p m at the Boy Scout Lodge. Visiting musicians come from Big Spring Big Lake San Antonio Ozona and Menard. All who enjoy country western music are invited with family.
