Brady Boxing Promises Warm Up For Golden Gloves
Brady's annual Fight Night is set for January 24 and 25 at the National Guard Armory with about 25 bouts each night starting at 8 p m. Local fighters join challengers from Coleman Brownwood Richland Springs and De Leon in a card that fuels the regional Golden Gloves in Brownwood February 6-8. Proceeds support equipment and travel for the Brady team as they prepare for upcoming tournaments.

Dr. M. B. Carroll former pastor of Brady First Baptist Church has been named pastor of East Grand Baptist Church in Dallas beginning February 1. He previously led Henderson church since 1949 after a Brady tenure from 1944 to 1949 and earlier posts in Red Springs Meridian and Matador. Carroll has held denominational roles and earned honors including an honorary Doctor of Divinity in 1955. He and Mrs. Carroll have four children.

Band to Name Sweetheart At Concert
The Brady High Bulldog Band will introduce its sweetheart Sunday afternoon during the winter concert in the BHS auditorium. Band president Robert Carmichael will reveal her identity during the show, directed by Boyd Hunt. The program includes marches classical pieces Latin numbers and novelty features with the French horn and trombone sections highlighted. No Word From Sailor Missing After Ship Explosion
Brady residents await word on Henry Lee Poe a 19 year old crewman on the U S S Kearsarge after an explosion damaged the ship over the weekend. His mother Mrs Wallie Poe and aunt Miss Plina Roles await confirmation as reports list several dead and others missing. Poe had served two years and was to return to California next April.
