Loans rose overall though Commercial National fell by over 200 000 from the third quarter. McCulloch County to be debt free by end of 1971
County Judge K O Ellington announced that McCulloch County will be debt free by year end 1971 after the commissioners court reviewed the fourth quarterly treasurer’s report. Outstanding debts are small time bonds about 16000 dollars due in 1971 with a strong general fund balance and ample time deposits. The county plan keeps tax valuation around 15 million and a total tax rate of 1.25 dollars across funds.

Ross Huffman and Bill Huffman forecast a large McCulloch County 4 H and FFA Livestock Show at Richards Park barns starting 10 a.m. Saturday. Ten candidates were named for the Brady Chamber of Commerce ballot with instructions to vote for five men and return ballots by February 1. The nominees include Andy Allen J D Bailey Dayton Boren Tommy Ereckson Ed Keeling Joe King Dr Merlin McAnelly James H Reeves Clair Whitesell and Ross Ziehr. Brady Pilot Spots Aircraft Near Stonewall
A missing aircraft was located about 1 19 p m Wednesday near Stonewall by Brady pilot Howard Creamer and USAF pilot Colonel Huckabee from Dallas. The wreckage showed the blue and white craft hit an oak and burned with no survivors. Three other bodies were later identified as George Gomez 46 his wife and Tony Garcia 35 all of San Antonio. Investigators from the CAB and FAA were directed to the scene.
