Brady Chamber of Commerce Sets Annual Dinner Date

A nominating committee of Andy Allen Don Neal and Ross Huffman was chosen Tuesday to select new directors. The committee meets January 19 at 3 p m in the Chamber of Commerce conference room. The April 13 dinner and membership meeting will be at the school cafeteria with Dr Walter Kerr of Tyler as guest speaker. Tickets are set at 3 dollars. The Distinguished Service Award winner remains unchanged. Directors also changed regular meeting to the second Monday at 7:30 p m and plans for the Junior Livestock Show at Richards Park are complete with over 600 dollars in prizes raised and donation requests ongoing.

Brady School Trustees Meet Monday Night

Brady Independent School District trustees meet at 7 30 p m Monday in the high school administration building for a regular session postponed from January 10. Agenda items include a proposed bus travel policy administrator conference report football financials changes in lunch reimbursements and district disbursements.

Annual 4 H and FFA Livestock Show Planned in Brady

Plans completed for Brady’s annual FFA and 4 H Junior Livestock Show at Richards Park show barns Saturday. Over $600 in prize money donated by local businesses and individuals. About 170 head entered: 120 sheep 30 hogs 15 steers and one heifer. Judge Jerry Bearden to preside. show starts at 10 a.m. Lambs and hogs weigh in Friday and Saturday morning.

Local Cancer Unit Sets $3,700 Goal

The McCulloch County Unit of the American Cancer Society met at the Chamber of Commerce with seven board members and Frank Graham present. Memorials totaled 222.50 and the crusade goal is 3 700 for the year with events including a May invitational volleyball tournament.

McCulloch County expects $8 million cash gain by 1976

County agricultural agent Jerry BeBord projects McCulloch County farmers and ranchers will earn over $8,361,500 in 1976, up from 1968–69 figures, with beef cattle driving much of the increase. The estimate comes from Texas Extension Service studies as part of the $3.76 in ’76 program to boost state cash receipts.

McCulloch County Commissioners OK 5% Salary Increase

The McCulloch County Commissioners Court in regular session approved a five percent raise for all county officials and employees effective January 1, 1972. The court set travel expenses for Justice of the Peace Joseph A. Barekman at $25 monthly and allocated four constitutional funds totaling 80 cents. It also set 1972 property taxes at 1.25 and outlined road fund distribution by precinct. Other actions included renewing county health officer James P. Anderson, naming Gene Samuelson public weigher, and accepting Richards Memorial Library as a community library under the 1969 Library Systems Act.

Dies Wednesday In St. Johns

Mrs. Frank Ereckson Rob erts 92 died at 6 p.m. Wednesday at St. Johns Hospital in San Angelo. Funeral services at First Christian Church Brady with burial in Brady. Survivors include four daughters a son six grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was a member of the First Christian Church and had lived in Brady San Angelo Dallas and San Antonio.

Murder Case Set for Trial Monday

The State of Texas sues William Terry Harper in 198th Judicial District Court over the December 16 1970 murder of Damon Ray Stratton. Pre trial motions start Monday January 17 with jury selection at 10 am Tuesday. Aubrey Davee defends while V Murray Jordan prosecutes. The case has been set for trial for a third time. Felix Benavides Jr. burglary case from October 11 1970 also set for this session.

Water Tank Repainting Underway in Brady

The Texas Tank Maintenance Co. of Austin began sandblasting and repainting the 500,000 gallon water tank at South Pine and Burns Ave. City Supt. James Feazelle warns residents to avoid using freshly drawn water for laundry as rust may appear. work slated to finish by next Monday to prevent interior deterioration.
