Students Discuss Cause and Cure of Delinquency

A Brady High School assembly panel of boys debated solutions to juvenile delinquency. They cited home life jobs and regular church attendance as remedies while examining automobile access and money management as contributing factors.

Brady Fire Team Wins Second in Three Man Pumper Race

Brady Volunteer Fire Department carried off second place in the three man pumper race at the Hill Country Firemen's Association convention in Coleman. Ballinger won in 12.9 seconds, Brady finished 14.2, and Brownwood placed third. Patrick of Sonora was elected association president and Ozona was chosen for the next meeting. Voters also backed a bill to ban general fireworks sales in Texas, allowing exceptions for qualified display use.

Dacus Baby Killed In Corpus Christi Accident

DeeAnn Dacus two year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Floyd Lee Dacus of Corpus Christi was killed when run over by a car Thursday morning. Funeral will be in Brady at 2 pm Saturday at Wilkerson Funeral Home with burial in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Lawrence Speedy Broman is in Brady Hospital after an emergency appendectomy Sunday at 2 p.m. He is somewhat improved but remains in serious condition as his family stays by his bedside.

City Health Officer Dr. G H Ricks warns Brady residents to vaccinate dogs immediately or restrain them until vaccination. Rabid foxes have appeared in southern county and neighboring counties with incidents in Menard city limits. Owners must vaccinate at a vet then obtain a dog license at City Hall.

Rochelle Choir Plans Seventh Easter Program

The Rochelle Community Choir plans its seventh annual Easter program sponsored by the Rochelle Study Club. Last year the event was at First Baptist Church and this spring will be at Rochelle Methodist Church. First practice is March 6 with eligibility open to eighth graders finishing this year and all adults. Thirty-two members participated last year.

Rochelle Club Buys Old Depot For Civic Center

The Rochelle Study Club bought the old Santa Fe depot to move and remodel as a community center on Rochelle highway land donated by Grace Crew Smith and relatives. Gunter Ogden, Brady contractor, oversees a 56 by 24 foot building with a main assembly room a kitchen and two rear rooms. The club may struggle to finish funding, but work continues, with plans for a drive in front lawn parking and future picnic areas.
