Montgomery Ward's will open a new catalog shopping store in Brady on the east side of the square next Thursday March 1. The store will display appliances women's apparel hardware fabrics rugs paint colors and other items with salespeople to assist orders by phone or in person. Purchases are often ready within 48 hours unless home delivery is requested and catalogs include the general book plus specialty catalogs. Ward's plans 367 catalog stores in operation by 1956 as part of expansion alongside 568 retail locations.

Curb Around Track Completed at Brady High Stadium
The new curb around Brady High School stadium track was completed this week by E. F Short. The Ol Houn Dawgs financed the project through a fundraiser linked to a television set giveaway during the Brady Relays on April 14. Brady High boys helped with digging and wheelbarrow work while OV Hound Dawg Jim Schafer assisted. The curb finished within one inch of the 1,320 foot requirement.

Rochelle Depot Moves Draw Crowds In Community Center Dream
Rochelle residents gathered Tuesday to watch the Santa Fe depot relocate to a new highway site. The 1912 timber structure, sold for 125 dollars to the Rochelle Study Club, will become a memorial to local war dead as plans for a community center move forward begun in 1944 after Mrs. Della Moseley’s death.

Two Men Hurt In Brady Bridge Crash
Amos William Kidd and Wayne Jones, Brady residents, were hospitalized with serious injuries after a 1955 Chevrolet overturned on Old Mason Road near a bridge. Kidd, 24, remained unconscious with head injuries. Jones, 31, had a fractured jaw and facial bones, plus other injuries.

Army Specialist Third Class William R. Routree jumped in Bangkok with units of the 508th Airborne Regimental Combat Team during a SEATO exercise. The operation involved Thailand Philippines Australia Britain and 7 000 plus participants in land sea and air maneuvers.
