Temperatures dipped to 22 degrees Tuesday and Wednesday nights, winds chilled the town, while Galveston saw rare snowfall. Brady Firemen Win Races at Convention
Brady volunteer firemen won multiple pumper races at the Hill Country Firemen's Association convention in Brownwood. The six-man team set 27.5 seconds to claim first, with Winters and Coleman high finishes in other events. Brady also swept three-fire prevention posters awards for McCulloch County schools.

Brady Bulldog Guard Invited to Texas Schoolboy All Star Game
Larry Smith senior and co captain of the Brady Bulldogs will play in the Texas Schoolboy All-Star Football game next August in Houston. The 185 pound three year letterman has started at guard for Brady two seasons, helped the team reach two consecutive Class AA state finals, and was elected All-District 19 AA co captain with Dorman Riddles Charles Ortiz and Shirl Gandy.

Harry Greenwood Dies in Austin
Warry Greenwood aged 88 of Austin died Thursday morning. He lived in Brady around 1943 for about two years and is being buried in Rest Haven Cemetery after funeral services at Wilkerson Funeral Home set for Saturday morning. Survivors include his wife of Austin, his sister Mrs Harris of Brady, brother John Greenwood of Seminole, a niece Mrs A J Ricks Jr of Brady and two nephews Harold and Jack Deaton of Brady. He was brother of the late Mrs V B Deaton of Brady.

Albert Leroy Finnigan 63 died at 2 15 am Wednesday at his Mercury home. He ran a service station and store on the Brownwood Brady highway for seven years. Born May 13 1884 in Texas he married Bessie Rasco Aug 26 1919. World War I veteran. Funeral by Rev Albert Alley Thursday 3 20 am at Wilkerson Funeral Home with burial in Fife Cemetery. Survivors include his wife four sons four daughters two brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services are set for 3 p m Saturday for Air Force Second Lt Buford Miller 24 of Brady. Jay Channell Church of Christ minister from Midland will conduct the service at Fourth and Bridge Street Church of Christ. Wilkerson Funeral Home will direct burial in Rest Haven Cemetery. Miller died Saturday of cancer at Travis Air Force Base Hospital California. Body arrives Friday.

Tommy Kidd Takes Second In Calf Scramble at San Antonio Rodeo
Rochelle youth Tommy Kidd earned second place in the calf scramble during the sixth rodeo at the San Antonio Stock Show. Twenty boys per performance compete across fourteen performances for livestock certificates from $40 to $10. Certificates fund 4-H or FFA projects with title passing after proper care and instruction. The stock show runs through February 16.

Brady Woman's Daughter Killed In Auto Accident
Mrs. Brooks Moore aged 46 of Portales New Mexico died Tuesday February 11 when a car she rode in was struck on icy Brady streets. Her son Jerry 22 drove the car and the door opened throwing her out her head caught between door and phone pole. Jerry suffered a brain concussion and rested in Portales hospital. Survivors include husband three children Nancy Farry and Jerry her mother Mrs Cummins of Brady two brothers Elmer Fort Worth and James Cummins Oklahoma City and sister Mrs Walter Teele Odessa Funeral services were held at 0 p.m. Thursday.

Cadet Salter Helps West Pointers Set 2-Mile Relay Mark
Cadet Ronnie Salter of Brady led the U S Military Academy West Point team to a new two mile indoor relay record 7 48 2 at West Point. The 880 yard leg ran 1 56 6. The team will compete in Madison Square Garden March 1 before Salter spends a week as an exchange student at Annapolis. He is the son of Brady Fire Chief Howard Salter.

Brady Guardsman Begins Duty Tour
Dalton F E Stephens of Brady is among 53 Texans entering six months of active training under the National Guard Take Six program. He serves in Company C, 142nd Infantry, part of the 36th Texas Infantry Division. He reports to Fort Chaffee Arkansas for eight weeks of basic training then attends a chosen military school for the rest of the tour.
