Delay on Bridge May Ease Business Pinch
West Commerce Street merchants approve a plan to delay the Brady Creek bridge project, starting with a four lane section from West White Street to the three way intersection and moving to the bridge next November or December. Traffic would be maintained by building two lanes at a time and detouring over West White Street and North Bridge when the bridge is finally started. The bridge would be closed only in winter, aiding local service stations motels and cafes. The plan requires approval from Austin.

Rochelle Sweeps Home In Covens Family Fire
A five room house owned by the Rochelle show system and occupied by Coach Jerrell Rice and family was destroyed by fire on Wednesday night. The Rices were away at a Brady movie. Firefighters used a small gasoline engine to power a second line after the fan belt failed, saving the garage and most belongings.

Brady Bulldog Center Invited to State All Star Tilt
Maxox Cox Brady co captain and all state center has been invited to play in the Texas state all star football game next August in Fort Worth. He is one of four selected from the south half of Class AA. The South team will have 24 players four from each class and two at large. Cox weighs 198 pounds and is the son of Mr and Mrs Else Wright of Brady. He started at center for the Bulldogs in 43 games over three years.
