Kingsville Band Stops in Brady for Breakfast Saturday
The Kingsville High School Band en route to Breckenridge will halt in Brady for breakfast Saturday morning between 7 and 7 30. Seventy students aboard four buses will dine at Club Cafe Steak House Waffle Shop and Flamingo Inn. They depart Kingsville around midnight Friday to reach Breckenridge for a 2 pm football game and plan to return home Saturday night. Bill Gregg directs the band.

11 Room House Destroyed in Early Morning Fire
An 11 room frame house near West White Street and North Cypress in Brady was destroyed by fire just after 2 a.m. The vacant dwelling owned by W. H. Slaughter, now in Houston, had tenants previously. Brady volunteers fought the blaze until 4:30 a.m as flames leapt hundreds of feet into the air.

Three Room House Burns Near Rochelle
A three room house on the Claud Knight place ten miles northeast of Rochelle burned about 7 30 p m. The Knight home was not damaged. Firemen took the county truck to the scene but the house was a total loss.

City to Appeal Water Damage Award in Brady Case
The City Council will appeal a $2,000 award to Marion Lemons in a suit against Brady. A jury in the 85th District Court found the city liable for water damage at 1700 Old Mason Road, alleging city drainage caused flooding to Lemons' home.

New Catholic Convent to Be Dedicated in Rites Sunday
A new convent for Catholic sisters serving Brady Melvin and surrounding communities will be dedicated Sunday afternoon. The four sister staff from Our Lady of Victory will move into the 2000 square foot modern building at East Second and Pecan Street after Rosary at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. The ceremony will be led by Very Rev John Quinlaven with clergy from the area in attendance. Cost was about $14 000 funded by volunteer labor salvage and parishioner help.

The City Council voted to raise the overparking fine to 25 cents if paid within an hour, replacing the current 5 cent option. Police Chief Lenhart noted drivers avoid meters by delaying payment, with 47 cars counted on a recent walk and 43 on red meters. The change won’t take effect until after January 1.

Eden Wreck Kills Driver and Kills Woman in Collision
Five people injured and one man killed in a two car crash south of Eden on the Eden Menard Highway. Mrs Frankie Reid died in Brady Hospital after the wreck that also left three children and two adults hospitalized with bruises and shock. The collision occurred as a wrecker was at the scene when another car struck it, killing Charles L Belvin of Eden.

Johnny L Gray, a three month Brady police recruit, recalls Army service with the Corps of Engineers near Fort Hood in 1954 and 1955. He met his wife Dorothy Bush in Mason while stationed at Richards Park during maneuvers. Born in Hodge Louisiana, he graduated in 1952 and later worked for Convair before settling in Brady as an insurance agent in 1957. The couple has a nine month old daughter, Patricia.

Special Nativity Midnight Mass at St Pauls Church
