With the Christmas mail rush near, the Post Office promotes early mailing. Postmaster Mrs. Barry Francks urges careful addressing, legible handwriting, and complete return addresses. She notes higher volumes but emphasizes timely mailing to avoid delays. local cards should start a week before Christmas.
The Brady Bulldogs placed seven players on the all district 17 AA team, chosen as the district officials met in San Saba to organize for the 1959 season. Brady's picks include Forest Hanson Johnny Moran Burton McCord Scott Appleton Max Cox Royce Blackburn and Dan Gandy.
Reynolds and Ethridge face criticism for losing the toss that sent the Bulldogs to College Station. Coach York stresses the priority of giving players the best chance to win, while fan and gate concerns come second in selecting playoff sites.
Albert and Gardner Broad announce a six hour Quickie Sale at A H Broad Company South Bridge Street from 3 to 9 p m Friday December 12. The store closes until 3 p m to prepare. Every appliance priced to move including refrigerators freezers wash and dry combos televisions washing machines and ranges.
The Herald and The Standard will publish children letters to Santa in the December 23 edition. Mail or bring letters to the office by December 19 for air mail to the North Pole.
McCulloch County cotton farmers will vote on marketing quotas for the 1959 crop. Eligible voters include those sharing in crops on a farm with a cotton allotment and their wives. Polling sites span Brady Melvin Lohn Voca Placid with 8 am to 6 pm hours.
Brady Coar will travel from York to Dallas on Friday and Saturday as director of the Texas High School Coaches Association. The meetings aim to organize next fall's all star game and coaches school.
The Junior Royal Ambassador Chapter of Rochelle Baptist Church will run a shoe shine stand in Rochelle and Brady on Saturday December 13. Morning in Rochelle. evening in Brady in front of Safeway. Proceeds go to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for Foreign Missions.
Brady Water and Light officials led a Monday to Tuesday trip to Ponca City Oklahoma and Nebtaska Kansas with Nordburg representative Marvin Wall. Mayor G C Kirk City Supt J C Feazelle Plant Supt E H Nixon and Councilmen Louis Bierman and A L Townsend joined the inspection of engines for a planned plant upgrade.
Funeral services for Harvey Spangenburg 50 of Eden and brother of Raymond Spangenburg of Brady were held at 2 30 p m Tuesday at Day Loveless Funeral Home Eden. Burial followed in Eden Cemetery. He died Saturday in a Big Spring hospital. Survivors include his wife two brothers Raymond Brady and Howard Fort Worth and a sister Mrs Rowena George Fort Worth.
Boyd Hunts Brady Bulldog Band will play carols Monday night at Brady's annual Christmas party on the plaza. The event starts at 7 pm with Santa Claus arriving by plane if weather allows. Santa will hand out candy fruit and bubble gum to children. Sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce Trade Extension Committee.
