State Board Approves Stage 1 of Hospital Plan
Leonard Atherton for Heart of Texas Memorial Hospital and architects Merv Croston and Bill Estill met in Austin with Texas Health Department officials and Hill Burton grant representatives to approve stage one of the hospital plan including site and building arrangement. Stage two will be reviewed before Jan. 15 with mechanical drawings. Hospital board president Hardin Jones said about 7000 dollars has been pledged to the building fund and urged tax-deductible pledges for 1970 before Jan. 1.

Santa Claus Helper Makes Dolls in Brady
Mrs. H. H. Knight, 82, resident at Sheffield Rest Home in Brady, crafts dolls from plastic bottle bodies and other scraps. She has sewn since age ten, produced 75 to 100 dolls and quilts in recent years, and gives many away or sells them. Knight, despite arthritis, cherishes busy hands and plans to stay active as long as possible.

Brady Youth Dies From Stab Wounds
Daymon R. Stratton, 20, died after a stabbing at 410 Ave B in Brady following a family argument. William Terry Harper, 22, was jailed on murder charges and awaiting arraignment. Funeral services set for 2 p.m. Friday at Wilkerson Memorial Chapel. Stratton survived by parents, three brothers, a sister, and grandmother.

City Hall to Close During Holidays

Funeral services were held in McAllen for William Thomas Short 56 who died suddenly Monday night at his home after an apparent heart attack. Reared in Brady he was remembered as a fine athlete from Brady High. Survivors include his wife of McAllen a daughter and a son both of San Antonio his mother Mrs W C Short of Brady three brothers E E Shorty Short of Brady Bob Short of San Antonio and Carl Short of Denver City and a sister Mrs LaVerne Allen of Corpus Christi.

Methodist Church Cantata and Youth Program Sunday
