Memorial Fund Established For Jimmy Jackson
The Brady High School Class of 1967 started the Heart of Texas Memorial Fund in memory of Jimmy Wade Jackson who died in an auto accident Tuesday night. Donations may be left at the Chamber of Commerce office. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Friday at Wilkerson Memorial Chapel conducted by Rev Henry Moore. Burial follows at Rest Haven Cemetery.

Brady Bulldogs basketball, coached by Jerry McLeod, are entered in the Ozona Invitational with a first round bye. Eleven teams compete including Big Lake, Mertzon, San Angelo JV, Wall, Mason, Comstock, Eldorado, Iraan, Rusk, and Ozona. Brady plays the San Angelo JV or Wall winner at 2:30 p.m. Friday after a 1-1 season start.

KNEL To Increase Wattage After FCC Approval
FCC granted KNEL a daytime transmitter power increase from 250 to 1000 watts, allowing broader regional coverage from Brady. Ed Keeling of Radio Brady, Inc. expects equipment orders and a six to eight month installation, with the old unit moved to studio for standby and emergencies.

Graveside Services For John Smith
John Smith, 68, of Brady, died at 6 30 a m Wednesday in Heart of Texas Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Graveside services were held at 11 a m Thursday in Live Oak Cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home. Born May 3 1902 in El Paso, he had lived at the Monterey Brady Nursing Inn for three years. He was a retired ranch worker. There were no known survivors.

St Pauls Episcopal Church vestry approves final plans for a 2500 square foot multi purpose educational wing. Architect Robert Morris of San Antonio submits the plans. The addition will include five classrooms a full kitchen storage and workspace. Construction aims for a Sept 1 completion with no cost estimate yet revealed.

School Board Approves Free Lunch Plan and Football Ticket Rise
The board adopted a National School Lunch Act based free and reduced lunch policy with 40 cent basic lunches and policy to determine aid by school principals. Supt Reynolds reported 1969 football income totaling 11 998.40 with Brady lead receipts and noted final accounting in January. New 1970-71 textbook committee was named and Reynolds chaired.

In-Service Workshop on Drug Abuse Set for Jan. 15
E. O. Martin coordinates a one day in service workshop on drug abuse for all faculty members on January 15. The Region XV Service Center will sponsor but final details are pending. The board discussed but took no action on adding concession stands at the high school stadium. Reynolds notes the senior class plans a brick stand as a project at the north end of the field, pending space clearance.
