Strong north winds and a dramatic cold snap hit the Heart of Texas area. Temperatures swung from a high around 81 degrees to a 17 degree low as a front swept through McCulloch County, with winds up to 35 mph and damage to Brady Lake marina.

Bumper Crop Cranks Up Gins In Lohn Valley
A bumper cotton crop strains Lohn gins with about 300 bales backlog as 90 trailers unload on gin lot and pasture. Ginner Joe Smith reports largest harvest since 1949 with 1,695 bales already ginned and more on the way from Lohn Valley and McCulloch County. Fife gin also busy with about 600 bales ginned. Delayed ginning due to late harvest and frost.

Almon Co. of Dallas commits about 900000 in revenue bonds paid from hospital revenue, with all pledges due by December 31 1972. E. J. Powell Former Brady Educator Dies
E. J. Powell retired educator and coach of the Brady show’s died suddenly at home from an apparent heart attack at 9 20 a m Thursday. Funeral services are pending at Wilkerson Funeral Home. A former Distinguished Service Award recipient of the Brady Chamber of Commerce he was a First Baptist Church member and is survived by his wife Mary Jo.
