Brady High School announces separate registration slots for seniors, juniors, sophomores and freshmen on Tuesday and Wednesday ahead of the new term starting September 4. Fees include a 1.10 registration package, 10 cents ink fee, and optional 1 school coverage insurance.

McCollum Taken To San Antonio For Surgery

Sam McCollum III was moved by ambulance from Brady Hospital to Nix Hospital in San Antonio for plastic surgery on his legs. His wife rode with him while daughter Rebecca Sue, 3, stayed with her grandmother in Mason. He has been hospitalized since a June 8 bombing damaged his station wagon, with severe leg injuries requiring skin and bone grafts.

College Head Speaks Sunday at Belton Church

Dr. Arthur K. Tyson president of Mary Hardin-Baylor College Belton will speak at both 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. services Sunday at the First Baptist Church. He is noted as an unusually capable speaker and invites friends of the church and college to attend.

Brady grade schools Dunbar and Brady Junior High set opening day registration for September 4 at 8 30 a m. Buses run regular routes with return around 11 30 a m. Lunchroom opens Sept 5. Grades 1 6 pay 30 cents. 7 12 pay 35 cents. Children must be six by Sept 1 and bring a birth certificate and vaccination scar or certificate. First time Brady students need a book card and last school report card. North Ward serves elementary students north of the Santa Fe main line. South Ward serves those to the south. Pre school meetings listed. several workshops and faculty meetings scheduled Aug 27 31 and Sept 1.

Coalson Daughter Receives Business Admin Degree

Mrs. A. M. Coalson Jr., daughter of Mrs. Annie Mitchell of Rochelle, earned a degree in business administration at South west Texas State College in San Marcos on Thursday. Mrs. A. M. Coalson Sr. and Mrs. Mitchell attended the graduation and will return home Friday.

Brady Family Returns From Four Years In India

Mr and Mrs Jack D Gray and son Bill return to Brady after four years in Calcutta where Gray advised in the Indo American Program for technical assistance. They plan a Washington and Cornell visit before College Station next summer for further training. Bill studied by correspondence and learned local languages while abroad.

Four men were injured en route to a Lubbock trial for B R Sheffield when their car and a truck collided 15 miles north of Sterling City on U S Highway 87 at 1 30 am Tuesday. John Martinez lost his left arm. others suffered various injuries. Espinoza released. trial delayed then resumed.

Four Races Set on McCulloch County Ballot in Runoff

McCulloch County voters face four runoff races on Saturday with Price Daniel and Ralph Yarborough in governor, Tom Moore and Will Wilson in attorney general, H. K. Patterson and Walter L. Bryson in Precinct 1, and C. B. Deck and Oscar Betsill in Precinct 3. Absentee ballots total 117, near the first primary, with county turnout expected to reflect statewide races. 4 H Girls to District Dress Revue in San Angelo

Feed Program Extended Again for McCulloch County

The Emergency Feed Program for McCulloch County is extended to accept applications from farmers and ranchers through Oct. 1 to provide feed for basic livestock through Oct. 31. FHA county committee led by James W. Criswell said the program now covers 185 Texas counties.

Wainscott Posts New Record at Car Races

Bernie Wainscott set a new Jubilee stock car time trial record at 20.00 seconds. He had previously posted 20.2 seconds and defended the record for a second week with the Flying 8. Races resume Sunday at 3 p.m. with 2:50 p.m. time trials and potential Powder Puff Derby and amateur driver events.

The Brady Junior High Band starts a summer band school next Monday August 27. It runs one week from Monday to Friday at the high school band hall with an advanced class at 9 am and beginners at 10 am. Parents of beginners should contact Director Joe McDonough to enroll.

More Than Half of BHS Grads Going to College

Brady High School reports that over half of its 1956 graduates will attend college this fall. Thirty two of 52 seniors requested transcripts to multiple colleges statewide. Students head to Tarleton, Texas Tech, Texas A and M, University of Texas, University of Houston, North Texas State, Abilene Christian, St Anthony Seminary, and Draughon’s Business College with specific names listed for each school.
