Farm Bureau Discussion Meet Slated for Aug 27
The McCulloch County Farm Bureau will hold a discussion meet at 2 p m August 27 in the McCulloch Electric Cooperative building for locals ages 17 to 20. The 1969 topic is Can Farm Bureau Survive Another 50 Years. District contest follows on August 28 at 6 30 p m in the school cafeteria ahead of the District Farm Bureau Queen Contest.

Redistricting Plans Advance in McCulloch County Court

New Supt Hired By City Council
Clarence J Buck Knox was hired as superintendent of streets and sanitation to replace retiree Lillard Holt. The council accepted the resignation of sanitation employee Billy H Dorries. The council approved 150 per night for water and electricity hookups at Richards Park trailer installation and ordered public signs. Pav ing of Brady Lake trailer park to begin next week and the new backhoe machine arrived Tuesday.

City of Brady Reports Over 6 Million in Assets
Brady's consolidated balance sheet as of April 30 shows total assets of 6 787 794 with operating assets at 781 492 and operating revenue of 838 083 against 850 868 in operating expenses, yielding a 12 785 net operating loss. Other income of 55 834 covers the loss leaving a 43 049 net gain. electric revenue 413 218 and water sales 148 538 bolster city income while electric expenses total 247 531 and administration 212 484. Bonded debt stands at 2 936 000 and other payables 610 999 with a year end surplus of 3 240 796.

US Highway 87 Association Set for September Meeting
The 12th annual US Highway 87 Improvement Association gathering will convene here September 16 with an informal social at Brady Country Club followed by a general meeting and luncheon September 17 at the Plateau Restaurant. McCulloch County Judge Ek O Ellington is president.
Brady trustees raise property valuations and taxes
Brady Independent School District increased property valuations by 60 percent to meet the coming budget. The tax rate will be 1.34 for maintenance and 0.32 for bonded indebtedness, totaling 1.66 per 100 valuation, up from 1.97. The board approved a 776 421 budget and set a Sept 8 meeting. A separate Brady chamber notes highway 37 improvements and organ izational progress in four districts. A. L. Moegelin of Brady underwent surgery at Shannon Hospital in San Angelo.
