Kiwanian Gary Wagner says the McCulloch County Youth Center hosts a Back To School Dance Saturday night with music by the Mike and John combo. Tickets are 1 per person, running from 9 p m to 1 a m, open to all county high school youths and chaperoned as usual by Kiwanis.
Wives of the Brady Jaycees prepared nearly 100 blue denim aprons bearing a silk screened emblem designed by Mrs. John Paclik. The fourth annual cookoff on Labor Day weekend at Richards Park offers a $100 prize plus fun and barbecued goat meals for spectators, with events like tobacco spitting and egg tossing and a $15 entry fee.
Sidney Lee Morris 70 of Brady died at Heart of Texas Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Services at Wilkerson North Side Chapel with burial in Rest Haven Cemetery. Born June 29 1907 near Calf Creek he lived in McCulloch County most of his life and was a retired laborer. He married Delma Lucille Holt August 11 1934 in Coleman. Survivors include his wife five brothers and three sisters.
The Heart of Texas CB Club and Jaycees will operate a booth on the courthouse lawn from 5 p.m. to midnight to engrave identification numbers on CB radios hub caps and similar items. Brady Police Chief Chuck Thomas supports the program noting positive ID aids recovery of stolen property and asks participants to bring items to the booth for marking.
